How do you prepare for an Amazon coding interview vs a TCS coding interview?
I would not use the same set. For Amazon I practice medium patterns — hash maps, trees, graphs, BFS, two pointers, heaps — I talk complexity while I code, and I expect a follow-up that tightens the constraint. I also prep Leadership Principle stories. For TCS I practice aptitude first, then easy programs: strings, arrays, palindrome, primes, SQL. I revise OOP and my project. If I only do pattern printing I will fail Amazon. If I only do hard graphs I may still fail TCS because I skipped aptitude and HR. I match the prep to the company.
How should a student split prep?
Daily DSA at Amazon's bar, separate SQL/OOP/project for TCS. NQT mocks near TCS. Timed leetcode for Amazon. One resume project story for both. Two bars.
Coding difficulty in each?
Amazon SDE-1: two medium DSA, maybe a hard follow-up. TCS: basics, maybe a simple program, plus the project. I would not walk into Amazon with only palindrome strings.
One project story, two companies — how do you angle it?
Amazon: ownership, metric, trade-off. TCS: modules, language, database, what I coded. Same facts, two cuts. I practice both aloud.
Does TCS mean you are ready for Amazon?
No. Different bar. TCS is campus basics and HR. Amazon is unaided DSA plus LPs. I would not put TCS down. Many people start in services and later pass product loops. The extra prep is DSA, not a personality.
